Welcome to the Robert Malcolm Memorial Pipe Band (RMMPB) webpage, a proud part of the SFU Pipe Band organization located at Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada.
ALL RMM Pipe Bands have now completed their 2014 competition season and are proud to have been named aggregate winners by the British Columbia Pipers' Association in the Grade 5 and Grade 2 pipe band categories. Congratulations to ALL our competitor bands for such a challenging season.
THE 2015 Robbie Burns Dinner has arrived (Saturday January 24, 2015) at the Executive Inn in Coquitlam, BC. We wish to thank our many supporters for the purchase of tickets and donations of silent auction items for tonights event. We wish everyone around the world a Happy Robbie Burns weekend wherever you are!
UPDATE: RMM has regraded its Grade 4 pipe band for the 2015 competition season and will resume competing in the Grade 3 Pipe Band level starting with the BCPA Annual Gathering (www.bcpipers.org) on April 4, 2015.
Because the RMM Pipe Band program is comprised of modivated young people as well as adults between the ages 6-60, we are proud to accept instruction from the six time World Pipe Band champion SFU Pipe Band. Under the SFU umbrella, RMM ensures the highest quality of teaching and playing standards are maintained at every level of the organization throughout the entire year. Our program takes students from Introduction to Scottish Music (6-8) and Beginner Instruments (8-16) up through into the adult ranks of our Grade 2 and SFU Pipe Bands. With our multi tiered pipe band approach, players remain under a single organizational umbrella throughout their career and simply change grades rather than uniforms. Few organizations offer this type of organizational structure or an opportunity to promote into a Grade 1 level pipe band after starting in the organization at the Introduction to Scottish Music level.
RMM Instructors such as P/M Alan Bevan (SFUPB), P/M Terry Lee (SFUPB-P/M Retired), P/S Jack Lee (SFUPB) D/S Reid Maxwell (SFUPB) and numerous other world class players are waiting to instruct youth from around the world who are interested in becoming members of the SFU/RMM Pipe Band organization.
THE RMM PIPE BAND WISHES TO THANK THE FOLLOWING SUPPORTERS FOR THEIR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE DURING THE 2014 PIPE BAND SEASON: Government of British Columbia, Royal Canadian Legion Branch #263, Tartantown Ltd., Dr. Wayne Longstaff Chiropractor, City of Port Moody, City of Coquitlam, Gerry’s Vinters, Coquitlam & Mission Starbucks, Gardenworks Burnaby, Vancouver Aquarium, Grouse Mountain, City of North Vancouver, Triple Tree Nursery, Science World, Vancouver Canucks, Abbotsford Entertainment Centre, Vancouver Giants, Zone Bowling, Langley Gymnastics, RBC, TD Bank, Brand Images Marketing, Marten and Henry Chartered Accountants, Amos Tiles, Executive Inn Coquitlam, Charlie’s Chocolate Factory, Loblaws, LORDCO, Rokstad Power Solutions and Kinder Morgan Inc.
